About Casablanca

The colours and shapes of Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca set against a cloudless blue sky

Ah, Casablanca. Famed for its art deco buildings, floating mosque and, of course, a very well-known movie. It’s probably a bit different from your black-and-white fantasies (maybe because the movie was shot in Warner Bros. Studios... who knew?), but it’s well worth sticking around to experience Morocco’s most cosmopolitan city. Uncover Casablanca’s overlapping beliefs in the historic mellah (Jewish quarter), the Notre Dame de Lourdes Church and the impressive Hassan II Mosque. Or get to know the vendors in the old (and new) medina, stopping for pastries and mint-tea breaks along the way.
