About Osaka

DESTINATION | COVER | Osaka

Some of Japan’s favorite street snacks hail from Osaka – takoyaki (octopus batter balls), okonomiyaki (savoury pancakes) and kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) to name a few. But as the country’s unofficial food capital, there’s a whoooole lot more to taste, which is why some local know-how helps. Snack your way through the retro Shinsekai district, taking in the umami smells as you wind through its neon-lit streets, then rub elbows with chefs stocking up on ingredients in Kuromon Market. Finish off with chewy mochi, arcade games and anime in the eclectic Denden Town.
