About Nairobi

Three giraffes grazing in a grassy plains of Nairobi National Park backdropped by the city skyline

Nairobi might be the gateway to safari adventures in the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli National Park, but it’s well worth sticking around to explore. With the Nairobi National Park just 10 km from downtown, this is a city where giraffes and rhinos roam grassy plains against a backdrop of high rises. Traditional and contemporary culture stand side-by-side in art galleries, open-air markets, cocktail bars and street barbecues, and matutas (Nairobi’s famous graffiti-painted buses) roll through the city blaring bass music. With a local to guide you, you’ll soon see why it’s far more than a stopover.
